Why not all cashmere is the same
Cashmere is not just cashmere. The length of the fibre is crucial: short fibres detach from the knitwear during wear – resulting in pilling, a limp feel and garments that look worn out after one season. We use only long-staple cashmere, whose fibres remain firmly anchored in the yarn.
The designation 2/28 stands for the fineness of the yarn: two-ply, extremely finely spun. The twist gives the thread stability and shape retention, while the fineness ensures the light, flowing drape you expect from truly good knitwear. A garment made from 2/28 does not stretch out, does not lose its silhouette and becomes a touch softer with every wash instead of thinner.
For us, this is not a technical footnote, but the reason why our pieces endure.

Stephan Dietz has been at home in the luxury fashion segment for over 35 years – alongside greats such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Chloé, Joseph London, and Umberto Ginocchietti.
